From Ammunition Plant to Nature Park: A Story of Transformation Before becoming a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, the land that is now Enterprise South Nature Park was part of the Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant—a government site used to manufacture and store explosives in the mid-20th century. Many of the original concrete storage bunkers remain dispersed throughout the woods, offering a fascinating glimpse into the area’s military past.
